November 20, 2025 is when we found out that Niantic had acquired 8th Wall. Coincidentally, it was also the day that we found out what 8th Wall was, and that Niantic was killing it.

Our apologies to the folks who rely on us to keep track of all the Niantic projects. This was, apparently, the largest acquisition that Niantic had made. Not sure how we missed it.

In our defense, March 2022 was that period between January 2022 when Niantic killed Harry Potter: Wizards Unite, and June 2022 when Niantic killed three projects that we also hadn’t heard about AND Transformers Heavy Metal which we had been promised would be the most unique and innovative usage of AR technology at any point in the history of the planet Earth, including the future.

I hope that you can forgive us for missing this news about the premier WebAR platform, we’re still disappointed because we will never have the opportunity to collect giant robots.
